CCCAA Playoffs: Falcons advance with 3-0 win over Evergreen Valley

The Folsom Lake women's soccer team added yet another shutout victory to their resume on Saturday night as they opened their postseason run with a solid 3-0 victory over Evergreen Valley.  Freshman forward Klaire Horton scored two goals - one in each half - to lead the Falcons to their 13th consecutive victory and 18th of the season.  Sandwiched between Horton's goals was a goal by sophomore Avery Pieri, which came after a perfect pass from fellow sophomore Nyah Attaway.  Aside from those three goals, the Falcons applied continuous pressure throughout the second half, with numerous shots on goal or that just sailed high or wide.  freshman Addisyn Barnum, in particular, sent a shot from 35 yards out that cleared the goalkeeper's hand but hit the crossbar.

Meanwhile, the Falcon defense was as stingy as usual; the shutout was the Falcons' 17th of the season.  Put another way, only three teams have scored against the Falcons all season, and two of those were in the first three games of the season.  The last goal given up was back on October 4 at Sierra.  Goalkeeper Grace Filiau has 8 individual shuouts to her credit and 7 more shared shutouts.

The next playoff opponent for the Falcons (18-0-2) is a team they've beaten already this season - back on Sept 2 - but is also the only team to score twice against them, when the Falcons won 3-2.  Expect a great match against Clovis (14-5-4) on Tuesday afternoon (4:00 pm) at Falcon Stadium.
