Falcon women extend unbeaten streak with 4-0 win at Sac City

The Folsom Lake women's soccer team, despite being held scoreless for the first 30 minutes of play, broke through with three goals in a 13-minute span late in the first half on their way to a 4-0 victory at Sacramento City on Friday afternoon.  Led by sophomore forward Avery Pieri, the Falcons won their fifth straight Big 8 match - and their fourth straight shutout - against a much-improved Sac City squad.  The Panthers, once a Big 8 bottom feeder, have greatly improved over the past two years and now sport a 10-5 overall record in 2022.

Pieri scored a goal and had two assists as she continues to find success in the Falcon attack.  Sophomores Annette Medina and Nyah Attaway and freshman Klaire Horton also scored goals for the Falcons. Sophomore Grace Filiau and freshman Reese Clarke split the goalkeeping duties and shared the shutout, thanks in particular to Clark's spectacular second-half save.

Often overlooked, the Falcon defense recorded their tenth shutout of the season.  Of their 13 matches this season, only three opponents have managed to score against the Falcons.  Along with Chaffey College, the Falcons remain one of just two unbeaten teams in all of California.  They'll put their 11-0-2 record (5-0 in Big 8 play) on the line against American River (6-7-1 overall, 2-3 Big 8) on Tuesday afternoon at FLC.
