Falcon women score season-high 10 goals in blowout win

Twenty one goals scored, none allowed.  Since their mid-season slump when they lost three straight matches, the Folsom Lake women's soccer team has gone on a rampage while winning their last three matches by the combined score of 21-0.  The latest victim was Modesto, whom the Falcons trounced 10-0 on Tuesday night at Falcon Stadium.  The Falcons played as if they were starring in a FIFA video game, with a barrage of shots and possession time domination unlike any they've had all season.  Interestingly, all this came against a Modesto team that entered the match with a respectable 7-9-1 record and had limited six of their last eight opponents to two goals or less.  Six different players scored for the Falcons, led by Big 8 scoring leader Michaela Clark with three goals and an assist.  Tuesday was the FOURTH Hat Trick of the season for Clark, a school record!  Emma Thompson and Sarah Scott both tallied two goals and one assist, and Callie Scheidt, Dani Powell, and Sarah Freed all added single goals.   And finally, sophomore Mikayla Smith also recorded two assists in the victory.  Clark's 21 goals is third in the state, while Thompson's 15 assists leads all of California.  Defensively, Hunter Casperson and Sarah valentine split the goalkeeping duties and recorded two saves to preserve the team's 8th shutout of the season.

The Falcons (13-3-2 overall, 8-3-1 in Big 8) will travel to Pleasant Hill on Friday to face Diablo Valley (2-12-2 overall, 2-8-1 in Big 8) at 3:30 pm.
