Falcons are shut out at Delta

The highly anticipated rematch between unbeaten Delta College and the FLC Falcons - their first encounter ended in a 2-2 tie - was won by the Mustangs on Friday afternoon, 1-0, as the Mustangs found the net in the 6th minute, then played top-tier defense to shut down the Falcons for 90 minutes.  In their 14 matches in 2019, the Mustangs have been scored on by just four teams, and the Falcons remain the only team to score twice in one game (on Sept 17).  The quick goal by the Mustangs allowed them to play lock-down defense and they carried it out to perfection, as the Falcons never had a shot on goal.

With the loss, the Falcons drop to third place in the Big 8 at 5-3-1 (with three consecutive losses for the first time in program history) behind Sierra (8-1) and Delta (7-0-1).  They will host Santa Rosa (2-6-1 in Big 8, 6-6-2 overall) on Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Stadium (3:30 pm).
