Falcons stun Las Positas with late goal

The Falcons traveled to Livermore on Friday and came home with a stunning 2-1 victory over Las Positas College.  The Falcons fell behind in the first half when the host Hawks took advantage of a rare miscue by Falcon goalkeeper Hunter Casperson for a 1-0 lead.  Meanwhile, the Falcon offense was creating shots with regularity but couldn't get one past the Hawks' goalie, who recorded 11 saves in the first half!  Early in the second half, Falcon defender Hayley Semkiw stole a pass and bent a shot to the far post for the tying goal.  The teams dueled throughout the half with neither able to break the tie until Michaela Clark sent a hard driver from 30 yards out in stoppage time for the 2-1 Falcon victory.

The Falcons (5-0-1) will open Big 8 Conference play on Tuesday evening when they host Delta College (also 5-0-1) at 6:30 pm at Falcon Stadium.
