Falcon women take down Clovis, 3-1
An enthusiastic crowd showed up on a very warm Tuesday evening to watch the Falcon women open their 2019 season against Clovis College. They didn't have to wait very long to see the Falcons get on the scoreboard, as sophomore Emily Doty took a free kick from Emma Thompson in the 18th minute and put the ball past the diving Clovis goalkeeper. The Crush would answer back 20 minutes later with a goal of their own that tied the score. In the second half, the Falcons continued their pressure with Emma Thompson scoring in the 53rd minute. Just five minutes later, it was the Thompson/Doty duo that worked their magic again with Doty scoring to put the Falcons ahead 3-1. That score did not change over the final 30 minutes of play as the Falcons found playing time for 19 players.
The women will play their next three matches on the road before returning to Falcon Stadium on Tuesday, September 10 when they host Feather River.
