Falcons win opening playoff game; set to host round 2 on Saturday

The Folsom Lake College women's soccer team has advanced to round 2 of the  CCCAA Regional Playoffs and will host Big 8 Conference foe Delta College on Saturday afternoon, November 24, at 2:00 pm at Falcon Stadium.  The #2 seeded Falcons advanced to the second round by virtue of their long-delayed (due to the air quality issues) 6-0 victory over Diablo Valley College, played on Wednesday afternoon at Union Mine High School.

The Falcons' win over DVC featured goals by six different players as they dominated the Vikings from the kickoff.   Alhan Bakideh, Alayna Ferguson, Sarah Scott, Riley Spitzer, Corrine Christmann,  and Kylaia Efhan all scored for the Falcons in a demonstration of unselfish play.  The match was originally scheduled for Saturday but had to be postponed when the Vikings were unable to play last week's  'play-in' match against Los Medanos until Monday.

The #7 seeded Delta Mustangs (17-3-2) advanced to the second round by defeating #10 Cañada on Tuesday, 2-1, and are a familiar opponent for the Falcons.  The two teams met twice during the regular season with the victory going to the home team each time.  The Falcons won 1-0 at FLC in September, while the Mustangs prevailed 2-1 at Delta in October.  The Falcons are hoping for a strong contingent of vocal fans to help them on Saturday afternoon as they attempt to reach the 3rd round of the playoffs for the fourth straight year.

The admission prices for playoff games are set by the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and are:

 $12.00 - General Admission
$ 8.00 -  Students, Faculty, and Staff
$ 8.00 -  Senior Citizens and children under 12
*No passes are accepted; all money goes to the CCCAA to help pay visiting team expenses
