Falcons dominate Diablo Valley to finish regular season

On a smoky fall afternoon, the Falcons concluded their 2018 regular season on Friday with a dominant 7-0 victory over Diablo Valley College at Falcon Stadium.  After a short pre-game 'Sophomore Recognition'  ceremony, sophomores Riley Spitzer and Alhan Bakideh appropriately scored the Falcons' first three goals of the match, all in the first 18 minutes of play.  By the time the first half had ended, the Falcons had added two more - one by freshman Sarah Scott and one credited to the team - to take a commanding 5-0 lead into the break.  Freshmen Michaela Mayer and Corrine Christmann added second-half goals, and goalkeepers Izzy Chinchay and Hunter Casperson combined to shut out the Vikings.  The Falcons finished the Big 8 season in second place at 12-4 and are 16-4-1 overall.

Tuesday's NorCal seeding meeting will determine the Falcons' playoff opponent, but it is expected that they will host at least two home playoff matches -as long as they keep winning - and possibly three.  The pairings should be announced by Tuesday night.
