Falcons return to form, defeat CRC

With a week to regroup since their last match – a tough 2-0 loss to Santa Rosa – the Falcons found their mojo on Tuesday afternoon as they defeated Cosumnes River, 3-0, at CRC.  Sophomore Riley Spitzer gave the Falcons a lead they would not relinquish in the 32nd minute with a goal assisted by Sarah Scott.   Freshman Corrine Christmann followed three minutes later with an unassisted goal to make it 2-0.  Fifteen minutes into the second half, sophomore Alhan Bakideh found Spitzer for her second goal of the match for a 3-0 lead.  Meanwhile, the Falcon defense stymied the Hawks and freshman goalkeeper Hunter Casperson earned her first shutout with five saves.

The Falcons improved their overall record to 5-1-1 and are now tied for second place in the Big 8 Conference at 3-1.  They will host Sacramento City this coming Friday afternoon at 4:00 pm at Falcon Stadium.
