Falcons battle to tie at Clovis

The young Folsom Lake women's soccer team put themselves in an early hole on Tuesday afternoon at Clovis when they misplayed a ball in front of their own goal which resulted in a Clovis goal, but recovered in the second half to earn a 2-2 tie.  The Falcons trailed 2-0 at half after Clovis scored in the 38th minute, but coach Donny Ribaudo's halftime adjustments opened up scoring opportunities for the Falcons in the second half.  Freshman forward Sarah Freed's goal early in the second half, assisted by sophomore Riley Spitzer, got the Falcons within a goal.  In the 68th minute, Freed tallied her second goal of the match, this time on an assist from freshman Emma Thompson, that tied the score at 2-2.  With neither team able to add another goal, the teams settled for the tie.  Coach Ribaudo lauded the play of freshmen midfielder Michaela Mayer and defender Sarah Postema as critical components of the come-from-behind tie.

The Falcons will next face former Bay Valley Conference foe Solano College on Friday afternoon in Fairfield with a 2:00 pm kickoff.
