Women's Soccer Player Named All American

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Thursday the 2016 NSCAA Junior College Division Men's and Women's All-America Teams, and for the first time Folsom Lake College has a player named to the team.  Falcon sophomore midfielder Karina Torres, who led FLC in goals scored (12) and in assists (10), is the first Folsom Lake College women's soccer player to earn All-American status.

"This award is really a tribute to Karina's toughness and work ethic," noted her coach, Donny Ribaudo, referring to a mid-season ankle injury that kept her off the field for several weeks.  Despite the injury, Karina still managed to lead the team, both statistically and by example.  "She really worked hard to get over that injury and get back on the field."   Her lengthy list of awards continues to grow, as she was already named to the Big 8 Conference All-Conference team, NorCal All-Region, and the CCCSCA (Calif. Comm. College Soccer Coaches Assoc.) All-State team.  Karina, who attended Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, is currently weighing her many options as she decides where to continue her athletic and academic pursuits.  Congratulations, Karina!
