Women’s Soccer Eliminates CRC, Set To Face Santa Rosa Next

Facing a defensive-minded Cosumnes River squad that had already handed the Falcons a 1-0 loss at Falcon Stadium back in October, the FLC soccer team capitalized on two scoring opportunities in the second half to earn a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the Hawks on Tuesday night in their Round 2 state playoff match.  Sophomore forward Hannah O'Donnell broke a scoreless tie 15 minutes into the second half and fellow sophomore Karina Torres calmly slotted a Penalty Kick into the net eight minutes later for the only goals of the night.  Sophomore goalkeeper Aubrey Hall returned to action after missing last Saturday's match with a concussion and shut out the Hawks with four saves.  Going back to the start of October, the Falcons have allowed just four goals in their last 13 matches.  This is the third consecutive year that FLC and CRC have met in the state playoffs, with FLC winning in 2015 and 2016.  The number -two seeded Falcons will now host Big 8 Conference rival Santa Rosa - the number three seed in the playoffs - on Saturday at Falcon Stadium for the right to go to the State Final Four in Ventura.
