Falcons battle to a tie at Diablo Valley

Two of the Big 8 Conference's top women's soccer teams went head to head on Tuesday afternoon in Pleasant Hill with neither team able to achieve the outcome they hoped for, as the match ended in a 0-0 tie.  The Falcons (6-1 overall, 1-1 in Big 8) and Diablo Valley Vikings (7-0 overall, 2-0 in Big 8) met with first place in the Big 8 up for grabs.  Despite the high stakes, but perhaps due to the fact this was their 7th consecutive road game the Falcons came out somewhat flat in the first half and failed to score.  Meanwhile, Falcon goalkeeper Aubrey Hall made some key saves to prevent the Vikings from scoring, either, and kept the Falcons in the game.  The second half saw a different Falcon team as they maintained a majority of the possession time and carried the momentum throughout.  The Falcons created several good attacks resulting in shots on goal, including two from  midfielder Allie Miller that hit the post, but could not find the net.  "In reality, a tie on the road at DVC is a good result for us," noted head coach Donny Ribaudo.  "We had no injuries, and now we'll play seven of our next eight matches at home."  The Falcons' record now stands at 6-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in Big 8 play.  After nearly four weeks  and seven matches on the road, they finally return to their home field on Friday night (Sept 23) when they host American River at 7:00 pm.
