Women's Soccer Clinches Second Straight BVC Title!

Last night, the FLC women's soccer team clinched their second Bay Valley Conference Championship in as many years with a convincing 6-0 win over Los Medanos College under the lights at Falcon Stadium.  Playing in their final regular-season home game, the FLC sophomores were given special recognition in a pre-game ceremony where each received a bouquet and introduction to the crowd (see attached photo).  The Los Medanos players were not fazed by the ceremony, however, as they played intense pressure defense from the start.  The Falcon women responded, seemingly gaining momentum and confidence as the game wore on while adding four second-half goals to their 2-0 halftime lead.  Sophomores Michelle Kimball and Alexis Wallace and freshman Chayney Mata provided all the scoring for the Falcons as each recorded a pair of goals.  Six different players were credited with assists as the Falcons demonstrated what the concept of 'team' is all about.

"The win was nice, especially because it gives us our second Championship," commented coach Donny Ribaudo, "but being able to recognize the contributions from the sophomores was even more important.  What they have accomplished in their two years is remarkable.  They've set a standard for future teams that will be hard to match."

With the win, the Falcons improved to 15-4 overall and 10-0 in conference play.  Also worth noting (and at the risk of jinxing it), the Falcons have yet to allow a goal in their ten BVC matches.  During that span they've outscored their BVC opponents 67-0. They have just two road games remaining in the regular season schedule: Friday at Solano College at 3:00 pm and next Wednesday (Nov 12) at Yuba.
