Falcons Fly High with Commanding 86-29 Victory over the Vikings

The Folsom Lake College Falcons put on a dominant performance Tuesday night, overwhelming the Diablo Valley College Vikings 86-29 in a one-sided contest. From the opening tip, the Falcons controlled the game, showcasing sharp shooting, strong defense, and impressive ball movement.

Falcons Fly High

Folsom Lake set the tone early, jumping out to a 20-13 lead in the first quarter before turning up the intensity. The Falcons' defense held the Vikings to just five points in the second quarter, allowing them to extend their lead to 43-18 at halftime. The second half was more of the same, as Folsom Lake continued to pile on points while stifling Diablo Valley's offense.

Sophomore guard Gianna Darte led the way for the Falcons with a game-high 21 points, hitting five three-pointers while also contributing three assists and three steals. Emily Bowman provided a strong presence in the paint, finishing with 12 points and six rebounds on an efficient 6-of-7 shooting. Leilani Edinburgh controlled the tempo, dishing out eight assists to go along with nine points and eight rebounds.

Off the bench, Ursula Chen added 10 points, while Jasmine Clee chipped in with eight points and six rebounds. In total, the Falcons shot an impressive 57.1% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range, demonstrating their offensive efficiency.

Vikings Struggle to Keep Up

Diablo Valley, on the other hand, struggled mightily against Folsom Lake's swarming defense. The Vikings shot just 18.6% from the field and committed 19 turnovers, making it difficult to generate any consistent offensive rhythm. Te'Niyah Lindsey led Diablo Valley with 13 points, while Tegan Gaines added seven points and five rebounds. However, the Vikings' inability to hit outside shots (2-of-17 from three-point range) proved costly.

Total Team Effort

Folsom Lake dominated every statistical category, outrebounding the Vikings 47-16 and tallying 27 assists compared to just two for Diablo Valley. Their relentless defensive pressure resulted in 10 steals, and they turned defense into offense seamlessly, scoring in transition and capitalizing on Viking mistakes.

With this win, the Falcons continue to build momentum as they look ahead to their next matchup. If they can maintain this level of play, they'll be a tough opponent for anyone in the conference.
