Cold Shooting Night in the Sierras for the Falcons

Cold Shooting Night in the Sierras for the Falcons

There was a tight lid on the rim at Sierra College for the Falcons on the last game of the regular season, as FLC fell to the Wolverines 64-39.

Despite the loss, Folsom Lake College remained atop the rival Sierra College in the ever-challenging Big 8 Conference, finishing in 3rd place while Sierra ended up in 4th place.

In a revenge game on Sophomore for the Wolverines since their loss at the Falcon's Nest a month prior, they came out with a new defensive intensity that stalled a normally efficient Falcon offense.

After the first quarter, Sierra was up 15-9. The second quarter didn't fare much better for FLC as Sierra outscored them again 13-5. But a regrouping at half sparked a great start to the first half as FLC outscored Sierra 18-15 in the third to claw right back into the game going into the fourth.

A quick couple of buckets put the FLC only down 43-36 with about six minutes left, but after some timely contested three-pointers by the Wolverines, the lead became out of reach for the Falcons within a couple of possessions. A little more lopsided than the final score shows, FLC loses their last game of the season.

Alysa Lopez and Corrie Harrison were the only constants all night as Alysa finished with 11 points and 5 rebounds, and Corrie had another solid outing with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Yet after all of that, the Falcons finish their historic regular season at 22-6 (12-4 Big 8).

The CCCAA Playoffs come out on Sunday and the Falcons will await their seeding and matchup. Stay tuned!
