Falcons Battle in Stockton but Fall Short to #10 Mustangs

San Joaquin Delta College has historically handled FLC quite easily over the years, but things have changed, and the Falcons absolutely battled it out for 40 minutes on Delta's home floor, coming up short 76-64.

From the tip, the Falcons were ready to play, handling the pressure of Delta and getting great shots all game. With a back and forth first half, FLC took the lead on a Macie Purbaugh three at the buzzer, 32-30.

Unfortunately, there was a 5-minute span in the third quarter where the Falcons missed open shots and the Mustangs made theirs, turning a deficit into a lead with a 14-1 run. The Falcons fought back with an explosive 20-point scoring half by Alysa Lopez, who finished the game with a career-high 28 points. But it was that ill-timed scoring drought that they couldn't recover from that ultimately led to a 12-point loss.

Megan Williams was very efficient from the field going 6-6 and finishing with 13 points, 5 rebounds, and her first charge taken this year! Macie Purbaugh had a solid night with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Corrie Harrison led the Falcons in rebounding with 7.

With lots of positives to take from the past week playing two top-ten teams in the state, the #14 Falcons know they can compete in the always competitive Big 8 Conference and will take a much-needed rest over the holidays to heal up and get ready for the rest of the season.

The Falcons (10-4, 0-2) will host Diablo Valley College (4-6, 1-0) on Friday 12/30 at 7:30pm for their last game of 2022.

Go Falcons!
