Falcons erupt for 55 in 2nd half to defeat Hancock, 71-64

The Falcon women opened their three-game weekend against tournament host Allan Hancock in Santa Maria on Thursday night and after the first half of play, looked like they were in over their heads.  The Falcons trailed 29-16 and were putting up bad shots, not passing the ball, and not playing good defense.  But after a little halftime reminder from coach Ali Mollet, the Falcons looked more like the undefeated team they have been and responded by scoring 55 points in the second half, mostly by sharing the ball, making the extra pass, and creating fast breaks with good defense.  They outscored the Bulldogs by 20 points in the second half and improved their record to 9-0 with the amazing 71-64 comeback win.  Sophomore point guard Macie Purbaugh and freshman forward Corrie Harrison led the squad with 16 points each.  Harrison also grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds while Purbaugh had 5 assists and 3 steals.
