Falcon women erupt for 56-point win over Cuesta

The FLC women's basketball team entered Friday's Folsom Lake Crossover Tournament with a 4-0 record and an average margin of victory of 21 points.  But in their opening game against Cuesta, the Falcons lit up up the the scoreboard for 98 points as they defeated the Cougars by 56 points, 98-42.  The Falcon defense was particularly tough, limiting the Cougars to just 6 second-quarter points on their way to a 57-18 halftime lead.  The Falcons had 22 steals, including at least one by every player on the roster.

Offensively, six players scored in double figures while team shot an impressive 50% (38 of 76) from the field.  Freshman guard Emily Ko led all scorers with 18 points followed by Corrie Harrison with 15 and Megan Williams with 14.  Freshmen Alysa Lopez and Ashleigh Briggs added 13 each as the Falcons unselfishly spread the ball around and recorded 22 assists.  If there was anything for coach Ali Mollet to criticize from this game, it was the Falcons' free throw shooting, where they shot just 52% (13 of 25).

The Falcons, now 5-0, will face a much stiffer test on Saturday afternoon when they play Feather River (5-2) at 3:00 pm in the final game of the Crossover Tournament.
