The Delta College women - the unanimous #1 team in California - put on a clinic on Friday night at Falcon Gym as they rolled to a dominant 80-40 victory over the Falcons. The Mustangs (20-1 overall, 6-1 in Big 8) set the tone early, using a stifling defense to hold the Falcons to just 7 first-quarter points while pouring in 26 points. The Mustangs' domination was apparent on the stat sheet as well as the line score; They shot 43% for the night while holding the Falcons to 32%. Delta outrebounded the Falcons 46-29 and committed just 16 turnovers compared to FLC's 34. Four Mustangs scored in double figures while just one Falcon - Jasmine Hess with 14 points - reached that level.
Unfortunately for the Falcons, the schedule doesn't offer a break anytime soon; they'll face the #3 team in the state, Sierra (17-2, 5-1) on Tuesday, then have two games against the Big 8's fourth-place team, Santa Rosa (12-7, 3-3).
