The Folsom Lake women's basketball team notched their second victory of the season on Thursday evening with a solid 57-42 win over Glendale College in the opening round of the Toys For Tots Tournament at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria. The Falcons sputtered a bit in the first half due to turnovers - they turned the ball over 20 times! - but still managed to shoot 70% for the half. With a halftime adjustment and a focus on protecting ball possession, the Falcons easily pulled away in the third quarter for the comfortable win. Sophomore Delaney Keddie scored 12 points without missing a shot (on 6-of-6 shooting) while Forward Bella Rainwater led all scorers with 16 points. Rainwater and freshman guard Reya Lee each grabbed 7 rebounds, and point guard Macie Purbaugh dished out 12 assists. The Falcons' defense smothered Glendale and held the Vaqueros to 22% shooting while creating fast breaks and easy baskets for themselves, resulting in an excellent 56% shooting from the field.
The Falcons (2-5) will face tournament host Hancock College (5-2) - a 70-59 winner over Orange Coast - in the tournament semi-finals on Friday evening at 7:00 pm.
