Falcons beaten at the buzzer

What looked like a sure Falcon win ended as a two-point loss on Wednesday night in Marysville as the FLC women fell to Yuba, 68-66 on a disputed last-second shot.  The Falcons controlled the game early, leading by as much as 10 points in the second and third quarter.  But the Forty-niners fought back, eventually tying the score early in the fourth quarter. The two teams went back & forth for the remainder of the game until the final seconds, when Yuba's attempt at a game winner missed the mark.  The ensuing loose ball found a Yuba player, who heaved a desperation shot from the floor as the horn sounded.  Miraculously, the shot found the rim and went in, and with no replay available to determine if the shot was taken too late, was ruled the game winner.  While the Falcons disputed the shot, the take-home lesson was "don't let the game outcome be determined by a last-second shot."

Sophomore Shay Boley led the Falcons with 19 points while freshman Delaney Keddie tallied 11.

The Falcons fell to 4-3 overall and will host Skyline College on Saturday afternoon at Falcon Gym (2:00 pm).
