Falcons give Sierra a battle but lose

Facing another highly ranked opponent (13th in California), the FLC women's basketball team refused to be intimidated on Tuesday night at Sierra College.  The Falcons led by one after the first quarter and trailed by just 5 at half before the Wolverines pulled away in the 3rd quarter to win 72-61.  It was another vintage night for sophomore standout Alma Perez, who connected on four 3-pointers and shot 50% from the floor for 19 points while grabbing 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double.  Perez has scored in double figures in the each of the last 8 games, going back to January 22.  Freshman Shay Boley had 14 points while sophomore Nicole Ayala scored 9 points and had 6 boards.

The Falcons (6th place in the Big 8 at 5-10, 10-15 overall) will conclude their season on Friday night when they host Santa Rosa (5th place at 7-8, 11-13 overall).  This will be the final chance to see sophomores Alma Perez, Nicole Ayala, Megan Macheel, Abby Malekos, and Maleah Denault play for the Falcons.  Tipoff is at 5:30 pm.
