Falcons give Vikings a scare
Playing against undefeated (14-0) and State #1 ranked Diablo Valley, the Falcons held the high scoring Vikings (95 points per game average) to just 72 points but still could not outscore the visitors, losing 72-52 on Thursday night. The Falcons' defense was superb and the offense nearly kept up with the high-flying Vikings. It wasn't until the third quarter that Diablo Valley took control with a 13-0 run to start the second half. The Falcons eventually closed to within 8 points, but that was as close as they'd get against the speedy and athletic Vikings. Freshman guard Shay Boley led the Falcons with 18 points, using long threes and driving layups equally well. Sophomores Alma Perez and Megan Macheel both added 8 points and were tireless rebounders. The Falcons (5-7 overall, 1-2 in Big 8) will next face Delta (12-3, 3-0) on Tuesday night at 7:30 in Falcon Gym.
