Falcons' comeback falls short at Butte

After an early-season loss to Butte College three weeks ago in the CRC Tournament, the Falcon women had hopes of exacting some revenge on Tuesday night in Oroville, but the Roadrunners held off the visitors by the score of 72-61.  The two teams played a close first half with Butte holding a 1-point lead, 25-24 at the break.  But the third quarter belonged to the Roadrunners as they outscored the Falcons by 10, and that proved to be the difference.  The Falcons were miserable from three point line, making just 4 of 30 (13%), but still made a game of it in the fourth quarter when their up-tempo style closed the gap to just 3 points.  The Roadrunners made their free throws when they had to and put the game away in the final minute.  Falcon freshman Shay Boley led the team with 22 points despite shooting 0-for-8 from beyond the arc.  Sophomore Alma Perez had a near double-double with 9 points and 9 rebounds.

The Falcons started a GoFundMe fundraiser for Butte County's fire victims – thank you to those who have pitched in! -  and have decided to keep it open for one more day to allow others to donate;  Here is the link:   https://www.gofundme.com/folsomlakewbbcampfirerelief

The Falcons can now prepare for next week's tournament at College of San Mateo, where they'll open against tournament host CSM on Friday night, Dec 14.
