Women’s basketball takes home 3rd place trophy

On Saturday, the Falcons faced Hartnell College for the Modesto Tournament third place title and came home with the trophy after their 68-49 victory.  The Falcons set the tone early, outscoring the Panthers 17-8 in the opening quarter.  A strong third quarter pushed the Falcon lead to 20 points and they never looked back.  Shay Boley and Alma Perez led the team with 16 points each, while Angelina Contreras showed signs of returning to form with four 3-pointers to total 14 points.  The trophy was the first tournament hardware for the young FLC women's basketball program and a sign that they will be factor in Big 8 Conference play.

The Falcons will play at Butte College on Tuesday evening, and in a gesture of humanity and sportsmanship, have started a GoFundMe page in order to help the victims of the Camp Fire, which burned right to the edge of the Butte College campus.  Their goal is to raise $1000 to present to the Roadrunners at Tuesday night's contest.  To donate, go to:  https://www.gofundme.com/folsomlakewbbcampfirerelief       Thank you in advance for your generous support of this worthy cause!
