Heartbreaker....

Seeking their second Big 8 Conference victory of the season, the FLC women's basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Santa Rosa on Tuesday night at Falcon Gym, 68-64.  After a strong start that saw the Falcons leading by 8 points early, the Bear Cubs took a 5-point lead (35-30) into the locker room at halftime.  The visitors extended their lead to 9 points after three quarters, but the Falcons refused to quit.  Trailing by eight with just under two minutes to play, the Falcons scored six unanswered points to pull with two with 20 seconds to play.  After a Santa Rosa turnover, the Falcons had a chance to tie, but saw their hopes fade when a questionable offensive foul was called.  The Bear Cubs secured the win with two free throws in the final seconds.  Falcon guard Alma Perez tallied 20 points while teammate Angelina Contreras nearly matched her with 19 points.  The Falcons (4-15, 1-9 in Big 8) will face American River (14-8, 5-5) on Friday night at ARC (7:30 pm).
