The Modesto Pirates stopped the Folsom Lake winning streak at one with a Tuesday night victory over the Falcons at Falcon Gym, 94-76. The Falcons led by three after the first quarter (22-19) and trailed by just four at half (46-42), but the Pirates put the game away in the third quarter as they outscored the Falcons by 18. Falcon point guard Abby Malekos had a career night as she scored 28 points on all manner of shots, including two 3-pointers, several driving layups, and even a floater off the glass. The Pirates countered with superb shooting as they rang up 13 three-pointers. The Falcons (1-7 Big 8, 4-13 overall) will start the second half of the conference schedule at Big 8 leader Sierra College (undefeated at 8-0 in Big 8 and 20-0 overall) on Friday night at 7:30 pm.
