Falcons end skid, split doubleheader at Delta

The Folsom Lake softball team split a doublerheader at Delta on Saturday, losing the opener 4-0 before taking game two, 1-0.  The Falcon bats were stymied in game one as they managed just three total hits off Mustang pitcher Madison Nelson.  Two of those hits were by first baseman Sydnee Verlin, including a first inning double.

The Falcons welcomed pitcher Adriana Gonzalez back from injury for game two and she responded with an eight-inning shutout gem, striking out nine Mustangs while allowing just four hits.  The win snapped the Falcons' seven-game losing streak, which coincided with the Gonzalez' time off from injury.

The Falcons (16-14 overall, 8-8 and 5th place in the Big 8) will host Big 8 leader Cosumnes River (21-9, 15-3 in Big 8) on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 pm.
