The Falcons opened their Big 8 schedule with a doubleheader at Diablo Valley College and came home with two wins, 8-4 in the opener and 3-0 in the late game. Sophomore outfielder Val Garcia had two hits and two RBI in the opener, while freshman Jailene Salciedo pitched a complete game to earn the win. In the late game, sophomore Gigi Mendez pitched a complete-game shutout, limiting the Vikings to just three hits. Val Garcia picked up where she left off, rapping out three more hits and another RBI. The Falcons improved to 15-1 overall and are off to a 2-0 start in Big 8 play. They'll play at American River on Tuesday afternoon, then host Cosumnes River for a Friday doubleheader starting at 12:00 noon.
