Sierra takes two at Falcon Diamond

The Falcons hosted state #8 ranked Sierra for a doubleheader on Friday afternoon and lost 5-0 and 9-1.  Both games were much closer contests than the final scores would indicate, but the Falcons were undone by one bad inning in each game.  In the opener, the Wolverines strung together five hits – more than half their total for the game – in the second inning resulting in four runs.  For the other six innings, Falcon starter Olivia Aguigam held the visitors in check.  The Falcons only managed four hits off Sierra's starter and never really threatened.

In game two, Gigi Mendez was locked in a classic pitcher's duel with the score tied at 1 in the fourth inning when three straight two-out singles gave the Wolverines a 2-1 lead.  Then in the fifth, the Wolverines capitalized on two walks and an error, breaking the game open with four hits, including a back-breaking two-run home run.  Falcon outfielder Hannah Harvey continued her hot hitting with two more hits – she also had two in game one – including an RBI double in the third inning.
