Seahawks punish Falcons twice

The Cabrillo College Seahawks put a whuppin' on the FLC softball team on Friday afternoon, winning twice in 5-inning shortened games by scores of 10-1 and 18-5.  In the opener, the Falcons managed just three hits off Seahawk pitcher Brianna Lamb.  Despite the lack of offense, the Falcons kept things close until the Seahawks broke the game open with a 6-run fifth inning.  First baseman Bib Burnett had the only Falcon RBI with her double in the 4th inning.

In game two, the Falcons' bats woke up and they trailed just 2-1 after two innings, but then the dam broke as the visitors exploded for 6 runs in the 3rd and 10 more in the 4th.  For the Falcons, catcher Savannah Avellaneda had three singles and an RBI, and 3B Araya (Sunshine) Corral had two RBI with her timely triple in the 3rd inning.

The Falcons will hope to rebound on Tuesday afternoon when they host Merced College at Falcon Diamond at 12:00 and 2:00 pm.
