Panthers knock off Falcons, 11-3

There was no silver lining to the damp, dreary sky on Tuesday afternoon as the Falcon softball team lost to Sac City, 11-3 in six innings.  Playing in intermittent rain and mist, the Panthers broke open a close one-run game with five runs in the fifth inning.  The teams appeared evenly matched until Panther shortstop Elizabeth Caffero's three-run home run gave the visitors a 6-2 lead and opened the floodgates.  Two more runs scored before the fifth inning ended and the Panthers added three in the sixth to put the game away.  Falcon designated player Tatyana Rosen was the lone Falcon bright spot with two hits, including a third-inning RBI single that got the Falcons within a run at 3-2.

The Falcons dropped to 3-6 in Big 8 play and will face Sierra on Saturday in Rocklin (12 & 2 pm).
