Falcon men fight to earn 1-1 draw at Santa Rosa

Despite having a clear advantage in time of possession, the Folsom Lake men's soccer team found themselves down by a goal with time dwindling away on Tuesday afternoon in Santa Rosa.  The Falcons had frustrated the Bear Cubs all afternoon with their ability to control the ball, but hadn't been able to convert that into a score.  Meanwhile, the Bear Cubs found the net in the 37th minute and held that 1-0 lead almost throughout the match.  But with Falcon midfielders Armando Jimenez, Nathan Gosal, and Fernando Atilano working the defensive pressure and pushing the ball up field, the Falcons' urgency translated to a game-tying goal by Drew Swenson with just minutes to play.  Swenson tallied his first goal of the season with a beautiful volley from outside the box in the 85th minute, assisted by Freddie Allen.

The Falcons (now 3-5-3 overall, 1-1-2 in Big 8) will play at American River (3-5-4 overall, 1-1-2 Big 8) on Friday night at 6:00 pm.  The two teams are currently tied for third place in the Big 8.
