The Falcons returned to Big 8 play on Friday with a match at Modesto, but may have been guilty of looking past the Pirates (1-4 in Big 8 play) as they eventually lost 1-0 on a final-minute goal. The loss was a stunner, considering the Falcons had dominated the Pirates in their previous meeting a month ago, 4-1. This time, Modesto was ready and held the Falcons in check with a shutout. The only goal of the match came at the very end of regulation when Pirate freshman Saul Ruiz put the game winner in the net. The loss was the Falcons' first in Big 8 play this season and dropped them into a tie for 2nd place with Delta at 3-1-2. The two teams will meet on Tuesday night at Falcon Stadium at 6:00 pm.
