Falcon men finally find net in 2nd half, defeat West Hills Lemoore

The Falcons hosted West Hills-Lemoore on Tuesday evening for their third of four non-conference crossover matches with Central Valley Conference teams, eventually earning a hard-fought 2-0 victory.  Despite the Falcons' 11 shots on goal,  they couldn't find the net and the two teams went to the halftime break tied at 0-0.  The frustration continued in the second half as the Falcons continued to dominate possession but failed to score. But in the 73rd minute, a red card foul on the Eagles' goalkeeper led to a Falcon free kick from just outside the goal area.  Sophomore forward Tanner Boyea sent the kick high into the top corner of the net for a 1-0 lead, his fourth goal of the season.  With a one man advantage (due to the red card), the Falcons clamped down on the defensive end for the remainder of the match to preserve the shutout.   Freshman forward Zwannah Johnson added a goal on a breakaway just before time expired for the Falcons' final tally.

The Falcons (10-1-5) will face undefeated and state #3 ranked Fresno City (10-0-5) on Friday afternoon in Fresno before resuming Big 8 Conference play next week.
