Falcons/Bear Cubs rematch cancelled by smoke

Falcons/Bear Cubs rematch cancelled by smoke

The FLC men's soccer team had hoped to close out their Big 8 season in Santa Rosa on Friday afternoon, but the heavy smoke produced by the Camp Fire in Butte County prevented the teams from playing.  As the fire progressed and smoke increased all weekend, it became apparent that the two teams would not get a chance to complete their schedule by Monday, as required by CCCAA guidelines.  The fact that the Falcons needed one more win for an outright Big 8 championships muddied the picture, but Big 8 commissioner Mike Liddell on Monday declared Folsom Lake and Delta as co-champions.  A tie by the Falcons in Santa Rosa would have resulted in a co-championship, so the ruling appears equitable for all parties.

The Falcons will hope for a top-4 seed in Tuesday's playoff seeding meeting, thus allowing them two home matches in the playoffs (providing they win) starting on Saturday November 17.
