Falcons win yet again!

Even playing in the thin air at 6,200 feet elevation couldn't slow down the FLC men's soccer team, as they won their fifth straight non-conference match with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Lake Tahoe on Thursday afternoon in South Tahoe.  The Falcons opened the scoring in the 29th minute with a perfectly placed free kick from Mouad Zehnouni.  The two evenly matched teams then battled for the next 40 minutes with neither side able to find the net.  In the 69th minute, Falcon sophomore Miguel Medina wriggled free on a breakaway and converted for his state-leading 7th goal of the season.  The Falcons' back defensive line of Arthur de Lima, Erik Mattice, Andrew Ratto, and Mason Lopez – along with goalkeepers Federico Ruiz and Kody Madore -  held strong to preserve the shutout victory.

After the intense match, in a demonstration of great sportsmanship and mutual respect, the Lake Tahoe team and coaches invited the Falcons to join them on-campus for pizza.  "It was really cool to see the players relax together over dinner," noted FLC head coach Justin Johnson.  "After such an intense match, it was great to see them leave any hard feelings on the field."  Kudos to both coaches for fostering an atmosphere of sportsmanship and respect!
