Falcons win season opener

Falcons win season opener

A clash of two conference-title winning teams from 2017 produced an exciting season-opening match at Falcon Stadium on Tuesday evening, with the host Falcons narrowly defeating Napa Valley College, 1-0.  The defending Big 8 champion Falcons and Bay Valley champion Storm battled to a scoreless first half, although the Falcons controlled possession a majority of the time.  Fifteen minutes into the second half, Falcon freshman midfielder Adam Ratto found teammate Miguel Medina open in the box, and Medina did not miss for the season's first goal.  The Falcon defense then clamped down for the remainder of the half to seal the victory.  Sophomore transfer Frederico Ruiz and sophomore returnee Kody Madore shared the shutout victory as they split goalkeeping duties.

The Falcons return to action on Thursday afternoon when they play at Feather River College in Quincy, then host Lassen College on Saturday night at Falcon Stadium at 7:00 pm
