Falcons shutout West Hills, 3-0

With their offensive attack running on all cylinders, the FLC men's soccer team defeated West Hills College (Lemoore) in a non-conference match on Tuesday afternoon at Falcon Stadium, 3-0.  The Falcons controlled the match from the outset, passing the ball with pinpoint accuracy.  Sophomore Santiago Peniche scored the Falcons' first goal (his 6th of the season) on a header –assisted by Austyn Ciampa's header – eleven minutes into the match.  In the 33rd minute, freshman midfielder Erik Mattice delivered a 30-yard shot that hit the far post and ricocheted into the net for a 2-0 lead.  In the second half, sophomore Luis Aguilar capped off the scoring for the Falcons with his sixth goal of the season, tying him with Peniche for the team lead.  The win improved the Falcons' season record to 9-2-4 as they approach the final six games of the regular season.  Friday's non-conference match at Fresno (9-1-5) should provide a gauge of how good this team really is before returning to Big 8 play next week.
