Falcons earn dramatic 2-1 win over CRC
In game two of Friday's home soccer doubleheader, the Falcons hosted sister college Cosumnes River and managed a thrilling 2-1 come-from-behind victory. The two teams battled through a scoreless first half, but it was the Hawks who eventually broke through first with a goal 10 minutes into the second half. Despite being down a goal, the Falcons didn't panic. In the 68th minute, sophomore Austyn Ciampa scored off a corner kick from Luis Aguilar to tie the score. With their confidence growing, the Falcons continued to attack in an effort to break the tie. In the 85th minute, a CRC defender used his hands to prevent a Falcon goal off a corner kick, resulting in a penalty kick for FLC. Luis Aguilar put the PK into the net for the winning goal and earned himself "Man of the Match" recognition. The win gives the Falcons a 7-1-2 overall record and sole possession of first place in the Big 8 at 2-0-1, two points ahead of both Delta and American River. They'll travel to Santa Rosa on Tuesday, then host American River on Friday evening in a showdown for local supremacy.
