Men’s Soccer 2017 Preview

The Folsom Lake College men's soccer team begins their third season under head coach Justin Johnson – and fourth season overall – with a road trip to South Lake Tahoe on Friday August 25.  The Falcons will face Lake Tahoe Community College, which played in the 2016 CCCAA state Final Four last December, at 5:00 pm.  With ten sophomore returnees on the 24-man roster, the Falcons appear to have a nice mix of experience and new blood.  Key returners include forward Jose Muñoz, midfielders Santiago Peniche, Austin Moen, Nick Potts, and Luis Aguilar, and defender Austyn Ciampa.  Incoming freshmen Erik Mattice and Pablo Herrera of Folsom and Kody Madore from Vista del Lago will provide a local following and should have an impact.  The Falcons are focused on improving on their disappointing 2016 season, when they started out winning six of their first 11 matches (6-3-2), but faded badly through the second half with eight straight losses to close out the season with a 6-10-4 overall record.  Their first four matches of 2017 will be on the road before opening their home schedule against Yuba College on Tuesday Sept 5 at 6:00 pm.
