Men's Soccer Loses Showdown For First In The Big 8

Coming off an inspired effort against state #1 ranked Fresno City, the Falcons had high hopes for Tuesday's showdown against Big 8 leader Santa Rosa at Falcon Stadium.  The first half lived up to expectations as the two teams battled to a scoreless first half, though both sides had their chances.  It wasn't until the 69th minute of play when Santa Rosa's Chris Ochoa found the net after a breakaway.  Another Ochoa breakaway goal five minutes later had the Falcons on their heels, and the Bear Cubs could smell blood as they added two more goals over the next 4 minutes to put the exclamation point on a 4-0 win.  It was a disappointing 12 minutes for the Falcons after playing so well through the first 70 minutes of the match.  They'll have to regroup in time for Friday's match at American River, who upset the Falcons 2-1 at Falcon Stadium back in September.  Despite the loss, the Falcons remain in second place in the Big 8 at the halfway point in the schedule.
