Men's Soccer Ready For Season

Second-year head coach Justin Johnson finally has his own recruiting class and hopes to improve on last year's record of 5-13-3.  With just three returning sophomores from that team (defenders Lee Barclay and Nick Valentine and midfielder Carter Berry), the Falcons will rely on a deep freshman class to carry the load.  Goalkeeper Jackson LaCasse and attacking midfielder/forward Luis Sosa have caught the attention of the coaching staff as potential standouts.   Coach Johnson is even more excited about the way his squad has started to play as a unit.  "They are coming together nicely," noted Johnson.  "Everyone on this team can make an impact, and that's what we stress: playing as a team."  The Falcons will open their season on Tuesday, Aug 30 in Marysville with a non-conference match against former BVC foe Yuba College at 4:00 pm.  The home opener will be against Las Positas (of Livermore) on Tuesday September 13 at 6:00 pm.  The Falcons won't begin Big 8 Conference play until September 27, when they host American River at 6:00 pm.
