Men's Soccer Notch a Victory at Yuba

The 'almost' full moon had nothing to do with it.  The FLC men's soccer team played an outstanding game yesterday in capturing their second win in Bay Valley Conference play with a 1-0 victory over Yuba College.  The Falcons again dominated in all phases of the game, but this time also led in the one statistic that matters most: the final score.  With advantages of 25-3 in shots and 8-2 on corner kicks, as well as 75% overall possession time, the Falcons were clearly the dominant team.  The winning goal was scored in the 25th minute when Brendan Fitzgerald sent a long free kick toward the goal that was headed in by Benjamin Krig.  The win snapped a 3-game losing streak for the Falcons and kept alive the possibility of overtaking Napa Valley for 5th place in the BVC.  The Falcons improved to 3-13-3 overall and 2-6-2 in conference play and have just two matches (both on the road) remaining.  They'll play at Marin at 2:00pm tomorrow in a makeup of last week's rainout, then finish the season at Napa on Friday Nov. 14.
