Golfers stumble, take 3rd in Napa Tournament
After winning the first three Big 8 tournaments of 2019, the FLC men's golf team hit a speed bump on Wednesday when they finished third at Chardonnay Golf Club in Napa with team score of 410. The Falcons finished five strokes behind team champion American River and three back of runner-up Modesto, despite having three players shoot an 89. At the other end of the spectrum, Brandon Kelly shot a 72 to lead the scoring while Max Menconi recorded a 76. But with four players in the high 80's, the Falcons were not going to win. "I could see this coming," remarked coach Barry Zarecky. "We have been playing down to our competition instead of what we're capable of." The Falcons remain solidly in first place in the Big 8 standings, but lost one point off their lead.
