Golfers back in the win column

The FLC men's golf team made use of some home cooking on Wednesday as they won Big 8 Tournament #13 on their home course at Rancho Murieta.  The Falcons shot a team score of 393, six shots ahead of runner-up Sierra, while extending their lead in the Big 8 standings to 26 points with just one tournament left to play.   The Falcons entered Wednesday's tournament having already clinched the Big 8 title, but were intent on winning on their home course.  Max Menconi took over the lead for Big 8 MVP with his excellent round of 72, three strokes better than any other player in the tournament.  Falcon teammate Jacob Russell scrambled his way to a 75 and tied for second individual low score.  Monday's final Big 8 tournament will be played at Chardonnay in Napa.  The Falcons will then have a week to prepare for the NorCal Regional Championship at Dragonfly Golf Club in Madera with a goal of qualifying for the state championship at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta on May 14.
