Golfers pick up where they left off: another tournament win

The FLC men's golf team, after a three-week layoff due to rainouts and a spring break hiatus, picked up right where they left off with a victory in Big 8 tournament #8 on Monday afternoon at Stockton Country Club.  The Falcons shot a team score of 387, their lowest total of the season thus far, and were 13 strokes ahead of runner-up American River.  Four Falcons shot in the 70's on Monday, a first for coach Barry Zarecky's 2018 team.  Brandon Kelly led the way with a 74, the second lowest score of the tournament, followed closely by Max Menconi with 75.  Austin Bennett recorded his best round of the season with 77 while Connor Gaymon carded a 79.

Besides being a Big 8 Conference tournament, Monday's tournament was also a 14-team invitational that included most of the northern California colleges.  The Falcons tied for second overall with Chabot, 8 strokes behind winner Monterey Peninsula.
