Golfers return to form, grab a share of Big 8 lead
Despite playing in biting wind and cold, the FLC men's golf team returned to form on Monday at the Stanford Invitational, where they captured third place overall in the field of 12 teams and simultaneously won Big 8 Tournament #2. The Falcons shot a team score of 388, just five strokes behind second-place Chabot but 23 strokes behind Monterey Peninsula's unfathomable 365. The scores also counted for Big 8 Tournament #2, which allowed the Falcons a chance for redemption after last week's debacle at Whitney Oaks. With five players shooting in the 70's, the Falcons easily defeated Sierra by 11 strokes while making up for last week's loss. Brandon Kelly was the falcons' low scorer with a 74, and steady Max Menconi shot 78 along with Jacob Russell. The Falcons have a chance to take sole possession of first place on Wednesday when they host Big 8 Tournament #3 at their home course, Rancho Murieta Country Club.
