Golfers take 2nd at Stanford, increase Big 8 lead

Two weeks into their season, the FLC golf team finally managed to play just their second match of 2017 on Monday and came away with a second place trophy at the Stanford Invitational Tournament.  The Falcons were soundly defeated by Chabot College, but bested ten other northern California colleges as they shot 378.  Chabot won by 23 strokes at 354 with three players scoring in the 60's.  The tournament also counted as a Big 8 Conference tournament as well, and the Falcons placed the highest of those five teams.  Sophomore Mason Troike led the Falcons with a round of 71, despite two bad holes that netted a triple and a double bogey.   By winning the Big 8 portion of the tournament, the FLC squad extended their first-place lead over Sierra College.  The Falcons' next scheduled match (weather and course conditions permitting) is Tuesday Feb 21 at Stockton Country Club.
